Jones ban reduced

At an oral hearing in Frankfurt on Monday the sport tribunal of the German Football Association (DFB) reduced the suspension imposed on midfielder Jermaine Jones for serious foul play from four to three league matches.

In the 60-minute hearing the three-member tribunal granted the motion filed by the DFB control committee and revised the decision passed by the lone adjudicator on 12 December 2012. Both the statement by Stuttgart's Ibrahima Traoré and the television footage of the incident confirmed that Jones made the tackle from the side and not from behind. The control committee and presiding judge Hans E. Lorenz went along with this viewpoint, which means Jones is now eligible to play in the home game against Greuther Fürth on 2 February.
