Schalke agree terms with Bochum over Goretzka switch

Horst Heldt and Peter Peters met VfL Bochum director of sport Christian Hochstätter on Sunday to exchange views on Leon Goretzka's planned move to the Royal Blues.

Both sides have moved towards one another because all the parties were determined to avoid going to the employment court.

The meeting went positively and Schalke have reached a basic agreement with the second division club over a transfer of the midfielder. "We went to Bochum with the aim of settling the matter in an amicable way", said Heldt. " Both sides have moved towards one another because all the parties were determined to avoid going to the employment court. We're all very happy to have reached an agreement and in Leon Goretzka we look forward to seeing one of Germany's biggest talents playing for Schalke in the future."

Additional formalities will need to be completed in the next few days to finalise the transfer. Goretzka, an 18-year-old Germany youth international, made 32 second division appearances for Bochum last season, scoring four times in the process. The two clubs have agreed not to reveal any details of the transfer.
