“We are very happy that we have managed to sign Alper for Schalke,” explains sporting director Horst Heldt. “He is a great young talent from Belgium and was coveted on the European market. This move is also an investment in the future by us.”
Oliver Ruhnert, head of the youth academy, stresses, “Alper has been a target of ours and he will now continue his development in the U19s until he is able to make the leap into first-team football.”
He will now be coached Norbert Elgert as he joins the reigning Germany U19 champions, and the coach is already looking forward to the new arrival from Belgium. “He is a good, intelligent player and a top addition to our side,” said Elgert. “But we have to give him time to get used to the demands of the game and further develop.”
Ademoglu was more recently with the U19s and the reserves of Belgium’s record champions Anderlecht. Before that he used to play in the youth sector at Genk. The 17-year-old already has some international experience, as he has already made seven appearances for Anderlecht in the UEFA Youth League. Moreover he has already played for Belgium at U15 and U17 level. At the U17 World Cup in Chile last October he finished third with Belgium.
