“We spoke to Felix about what would be the best thing for his sporting development over the next six months. During those talks, he expressed his desire to accept the offer from Darmstadt 98 so he can prove himself there,” explained sporting director Horst Heldt.
Platte has made three Bundesliga appearances to date. He also featured against Real Madrid in the Champions League.
The 1.90-metre striker joined Schalke’s Knappenschmiede academy from SC Paderborn 07 in 2012. He won the German Championship with the club’s U19s last season, before reaching the semi-finals of the UEFA Youth League with them the year before.
Platte signed a professional contract with the Royal Blues in November 2014, which was extended until 30th June 2018 last summer.
