Team manager, Joshua Begehr, is a former FIFA world champion and has been European champion on a number of occasions. He has brought two promising talents into the team to help develop and support the project. Six-time German and Austrian champion Mario Viska will join the Royal Blues with immediate effect, as well as Cihan Yasarlan, who has won an assortment of titles in his first year as a professional FIFA player.
Begehr is excited about the new FIFA project: “It is a dream come true to be able to work with Schalke on a project of this size. Our passion for the sport and football is something that we want to share. Our aim is to develop a strong community, which will bring the FIFA eSports scene up to a new level. FC Schalke 04 is the perfect partner to help us do this.”
Head of eSports Tim Reichert has ambitious goals for the team: “We began in the world of eSports about a month ago and we are taking another step with our FIFA team today. FIFA has given us a new opportunity to get into closer contact with the German eSports scene. That’s why we are hoping that we get support from the S04 fans. We will be offering regular interactive events with the players such as boot camps and meet and greets. The long-term aim is to create a new standard in the way that the world of eSports is perceived by the public.”
