The scoring was opened by World Champion Julian Draxler after eleven minutes, and doubled just five minutes later through TSG 1899 Hoffenheim's Sandro Wagner. Wagner was on the scoresheet again just short of the half hour mark to get his second, with Amin Younes making it 4-0 to Germany seven minutes before the break. Shkodran Mustafi and Julian Brandt added to Germany's lead in the second half, and Wagner rounded off his hat-trick with five minutes of time remaining. The game was Germany's sixth win in seven ahead of the Confederations Cup in Russia, which starts in a week's time.
Germany's first game of the tournament will be on Monday 19th June against Asian Champions Australia. Their following two group games will be played on Thursday 22nd June against Copa America winners Chile and on Sunday 25th June against Africa Cup of Nations winners Cameroon.
