Michael Langer completes goalkeeping trio
The role of third-choice goalkeeper in the Schalke first-team squad has been filled. Michael Langer has signed a two-year contract with FC Schalke 04 until 30th July 2019. The Austrian will travel to London with his new teammates on Friday, before Saturday’s fixture at 16:00 CEST versus Premier League side Crystal Palace.
The 32-year-old already has a wealth of experience in professional German football. Langer featured for VfB Stuttgart (2006-08), SC Freiburg (2008-10), FSV Frankfurt (2010-12) and SV Sandhausen (2012-14). He made two appearances for each club. More recently, Langer has played for Norwegian side Valerenga in Norway (2014-15), the Tampa Bay Rowdies in the USA (2016) and was first-choice goalkeeper for IFK Norrköping in Sweden (2016-17).
