… the first match of the season against BFC Dynamo

We’re finally getting underway. Pre-season was long and we worked very hard. The team has been looking forward to the start of the season for weeks now.

… fond Cup memories

I’ve already had the privilege of lifting the cup once with VfL Wolfsburg, but that’s not the only reason I love this competition. My personal performances have always been very good in cup matches and I’ve managed to score a lot of goals and get some assists too. Hopefully I can pick up where I’ve left off.

… a title with the Under-19s

I also lifted the cup with the Under-19s. I was playing for SC Freiburg and we beat Karlsruher SC 4-1. Our coach then was Christian Streich who is now managing the first-team.

I’m excited to see what the starting line-up for the match against BFC Dynamo is

… competition for places in the squad

I’m excited to see what the starting line-up for the match against BFC Dynamo is. We have two, or even three, players with real quality in every position on the field, which means that everyone has to be highly concentrated in training sessions. Each day is a battle to prove your worth to the head coach. If someone isn’t at top level there is always another player to fill his place.

… the formation

A couple of things have changed, which is normal with a new head coach. The whole team under Domenico Tedesco is performing very well. The coaching team has a very clear philosophy which is shared with the players. Everyone knows his individual position on the pitch, as well as his role within the team. Tactically, I think we are in a good place. Our playing style is dynamic and aggressive.

… his preferred position

I honestly don’t have one. Apart from central defender or goalkeeper I’ve played almost everywhere on the pitch. I’m versatile and will play wherever my team needs me.
