New manager Domenico Tedesco will test his team against Neftchi Baku on Wednesday, July 26th at 18:00 CEST. Former Schalke player Emile Mpenza played for the club, which hail from Azerbaijan’s capital, for a few years. Neftchi Baku have won eight championships since the founding of the league in 1992, and six cups, making them one of the most successful clubs in the country, although they finished seventh last year.
Tedesco’s second test comes against SD Eibar on Sunday, 30th July at 17:30 CEST. The venue for the game against the side that finished 10th in the Primera Division is Mittersill’s Waldstadion. The Basque outfit from the Iberian peninsula are one of last season’s surprise teams, and managed to secure a draw against Champions League winners Real Madrid in the Santiago Bernabeu.
