Leon Goretzka scores in overwhelming DFB victory

The German national team recorded an eighth win out of eight in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers. Leon Goretzka was one of five players off the mark in a resounding 6-0 victory against Norway on Monday (4.9). The midfield man came on for Thomas Müller at the beginning of the second half, scoring the fifth goal five minutes after coming onto the pitch.

The 22-year old scored from a short corner, heading in Julian Draxler’s cross to make it four goal in ten games for his country. Two other goalscorers in Stuttgart, Mesut Özil Julian Draxler, were products of the Schalke training academy, the Knappenschmiede, and later promoted to the first team. Timo Werner bagged a brace on the night while Mario Gomez also got one.

After a convincing performance in the Neckar Arena, Die Mannschaft have all but sealed their place in the 2018 World Cup. Five points ahead of second-placed Northern Ireland with two matches to go, qualification is all but secured.
